  • Glyphosate is one of the world's most widely produced herbicides that is used in more than 700 products from agriculture and forestry to home use. It was first introduced in the 1970's to kill weeds, but usage has increased substantially since the development of genetically modified (GMO) foods, such as non-organic wheat, oats, beans, chickpeas, and soybeans.

Prior to GMO-based foods, glyphosate had to be sprayed manually to avoid killing crops. With the introduction of GMO foods, however, glyphosate started being sprayed broadly, killing everything except the GMO/glyphosate resistant foods, as well as seeping into water supplies.

Today, more than 90% of corn and soy used today are GMO. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared glyphosate a likely carcinogen with recent studies showing significant associations between the ingestion of glyphosate and or GMO foods and a variety of diseases.

  • Glyphosate is the world's most widely produced herbicide, prevalent in GMO glyphosate-resistant crops and contaminated drinking water.
