  • The human gastrointestinal tract (gut) is made up of complex ecosystems consisting of trillions of microorganisms. The finely tuned balance where roughly 500 different strains of bacteria compete for space and nutrients is fed by the food and drink we consume. Some organisms thrive on high-sugar diets and can out-compete beneficial strains. These growths are called colonies and through chemical signaling can have a profound impact on the body. Gut bacteria have been largely associated with overall gastrointestinal function, appetite, weight management, and immune response. Clean Gut Probiotic is a unique probiotic formula designed to deliver active organisms shown to promote healthy gut microflora, protect intestinal integrity and boost immune function. The strains selected in the Clean Gut Probiotic have been studied for their ability to out-compete unwanted microbes, aid digestion, and support biodiversity in the gut.

Each probiotic strain performs its own function and can be specific to an area within the gut.

Lactobacillis acidophilus ferments various carbohydrates to produce lactic acid, which increases the absorption and bioavailability of minerals. This includes calcium, copper, magnesium, and manganese. The production of lactic acid also creates an inhospitable environment for invading microbes. It has also been shown to protect intestinal cells by competing for adhesion space in the gut against unfriendly bacteria.

Lactobacillis paracasei colonizes the intestinal tract by reinforcing defense mechanisms that support an immune response. It does this by supporting T-helper cell production and secreting critical antibodies to promote intestinal immunity.

Bifidobacterium lactis is predominantly found in the colon and may support a balanced immune response. This strain also produces both lactic and acetic acid to help maintain microflora balance.

Lactobacillus plantarum is a beneficial bacteria commonly found in fermented foods including sauerkraut, pickles, brined olives, and sourdough. It also helps boost the immune response and outcompetes unfriendly bacteria.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus has been proven to have remarkable survivability in the acid and bile environments in the GI tract. It is also particularly useful because of its ability to adhere to cells, enhance microflora balance, and inhibit adherence by unwanted microbes.

Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast that helps to bind and clear out unwanted bacteria. It also plays a key role in supporting immune defense by increasing levels of protective antibodies (sIga), creating a first line of defense that helps bind and clear unfriendly bacteria.
